Ride for the Fallen - LCpl Allred's Run
The next "Ride for the Fallen" will take place on Saturday, 28 August 2010, and will again originate from Elk Ride Park, 1060 E. 2500 N., North Logan, UT. More information will be provided soon on the ride's website at www.RideForTheFallen.us.
Just a personal note from Michael's family: We cannot adequately express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has helped with the event over the past three years: the riders, those who served as sponsors, and all the volunteers (you know who you are!) who work so hard to make it a success.
2009 Ride
The 2009 "Ride for the Fallen" was an outstanding success, with almost 300 motorcycles participating. The event started with a short memorial service to remember all of Utah's fallen men and women. During the ceremony, presented by members of the Utah National Guard and American Legion, the names were read of all those from Utah who have lost their lives in current conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the world. After the flag was lowered to half mast, a three-volley salute concluded the ceremony.
The day was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. Several Gold Star families (those who have lost a loved one while on active duty) attended the event, and it was a special honor to have them in attendance. We hope that many more will come in the future.
The food was (again) scrumptious, and we'd like to thank all those who helped with the meal. The folks at YESCO came through once again, and we enjoyed patriotic music and video on their big screen.
